Ekiti 2014 Election: PDP does not need drug money - Group tells Kashamu

By Ekiti Justice Group (EJG)

A pressure group in Ekiti State, the Ekiti Justice Group (EJG) has described as criminal and insulting, comment by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Ogun State, Mr. Esho Jinadu (a.k.a Buruji Kashamu) that he was ready to spend N1bn for PDP to win Ekiti election, saying; "Ekiti people are people of proven integrity and won't need drug money to vote Governor Kayode Fayemi out of office in 2014."

The group, which advised Kashamu to channel whatever amount of billions that he has to winning Ogun State for the PDP in 2015, said; "Ekiti has learnt from the Bola Tinubu experience and won't accept another foreign political contractor under any guise."

In a release signed by its State Coordinator, Comrade Ebenezer Olaleye and Secretary, Comrade Gbenga Babawibe, EJG noted that with or without money, Governor Fayemi will be voted out of office in 2014.

The group said those helping Kashamu to launder his image should be reminded of the provisions of the Electoral Act on the level of financial contributions that individuals and corporate organisations can make towards an election, and stop helping him to make unguarded statements.

EJG also said Kashamu should rather explain how he got a N370 million contract from Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State for the supply of the Toyota Avensis as official cars for the 27 Lawmakers in the state and their Clerk before promoting himself as a lover of the PDP.

EJG said; "As at today, Buruji Kasamu is wanted by the United States of America government for alleged involvement in drug trafficking and an Appeal Court in Lagos had already given the Federal Government nod to extradite him to the USA to face trial.

"Such a person coming on the pages of newspapers to say he was going spend N1 billion for the PDP in Ekiti State is a bad advertisement for the party, and any governorship aspirant in the PDP that is associating with such a character must know that he or she will be rejected by the people.

"Most importantly, Buruji Kasamu should first help his siblings in Ijebu-Igbo, many of whom are without food and shelter to regain their lives before thinking of bringing his drug money to Ekiti.

"We in Ekiti do not need any political merchant, whose desire is to come and do business in Ekiti by investing N100 million on the 2014 election and claiming to the public that he invested N1 billion, and coming to our State to demand for N10 billion after the election.

"Beside, we do not need someone with questionable wealth like Buruji Kasamu, who will spend N100 million on Ekiti election and go on the pages of newspapers to declare that he spent N1 billion like he (Kasamu) did in a newspaper advertisements on Wednesday.

"Therefore, Buruji Kasamu should keep his dirty billions for the PDP in Ogun State and his siblings in Ijebu-Igbo, especially Iya Olobi, Dupe and Busura."
