Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has accused the Federal Government of not showing concern to the plight of the people of state through out the Boko Haram crisis that engulfed the state.

Governor Shettima made the accusation while speaking at the presentation of the KYAN machine by 40 teachers trained in Indian for the introduction to all primary, secondary and tertiary institutions which took place at the Government House Maiduguri Yesterday.

He said the Federal Government gave N25 billion to communities affected by oil spillage in cross Rivers, N3 billion to the Nollywood, while Borno state was given only N200 million despite the huge loss of lives and property in the Boko Haram Insurgency.

Shettima who spoke in tears said “power belongs to God and he gives it to whoever He want, nobody is interested in assisting Borno. We have spend billions in trying to bring peace to the state and Federal Government gave meagre N200 Million and this is the same government that gave N25 billion to Cross River state and N3 billion to Nollywood, I owe nobody apology, as nobody cares about Borno”.

He said he is determined to transform the state despite all odds, adding that the state government is committed to the total transformation of the education sector, as public schools will not be left in a state of neglect, because according to him “we are all products of public schools and history will judge us harshly if we neglect public schools”.

The Governor Said “ the problem facing the nation is fundamentally the failure of our leaders. I will not exonerate them. The best legacy you leave to future generations, our children and grand children is qualitative education”.

He said he is still ready to honour his words by offering himself despite his tight schedule to teach in one of the schools in the state to ensure that Borno indigenes get the best type of education and called on all meaningful citizens of the state to join hands with him in salvaging the state.
