PDP Convention: VP Sambo holds closs door meeting with governors, stakeholders

The Vice President Namadi Sambo, ahead of the Saturday”s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National on Convention, today had a closed door meeting at his instance with six PDP Governors and other stakeholders in the North West zone to deliberate on 'state of the nation' as well as the convention.

Prominent personalities at the meeting included the Gov. Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Saidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Ramalan Yero (Kaduna) and Gov. Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State.

Addressing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, North-West zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Kazaure, said the meeting commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his determination to contain threats to peace and security in some parts of the North.

He said they particularly noted that some of the measures put in place to check cases of of social unrest and insecurity had started yielding positive results.

“The meeting commended the President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo and the State governors for their unwavering commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence of all component parts of the Federation.

“The meeting particularly observed and commended the President's determination to contain threats to peace and security in some parts of the North which is yielding positive results.”

Kazaure said the stakeholders also noted the performance of the PDP in the rapid resuscitation of the previously neglected basic infrastructure.

“Leaders of the zone unanimously pledged their support to the president and called for the cooperation of all Nigerians in his noble agenda of national revival

He said that the meeting also stressed the need for all members of the party across the country to be guided at all times by provisions of the law and to shun all divisive tendencies.

“The meeting urged the national and zonal leadership of the PDP to continue with their efforts in ensuring party cohesion, fairness and resolute pursuit of the programme of Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebuilding of the party.

“It expressed confidence that, with the structures on ground, the PDP remains the most attractive platform for the Transformation of Nigeria,'' he further stated.

According to Kazaure, the meeting noted with satisfaction, the determination of the zone to foster unity and continually speak with one voice.
