Index drops by 0.33% as market activities close on cautious note

Weekly activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on a bearish note on Friday as many blue chips recorded price losses.

The All-share index depreciated by 124.7 points or 0.33 per cent to close at 36,986.93 against the 37,111.63 recorded on Thursday.

Market capitalisation grew by N39 billion to close at N11.713 trillion compared with N11.752 trillion recorded on Thursday.

Julius Berger and Unilever shed N2 each to close at N71 and N63 per share, respectively.

Ashaka Cement lost N1.07 to close at N22 per share, while Oando depreciated by 60k to close N12.20 per share.

On the other hand, Nestle led the gainers' chart with N5 to close at N935 per share.

Cadbury followed with a gain of N2.59 to close at N50.90 per share, while Lafarge Wapco grew by N1.90 to close at N96 per share.

Nigerian Breweries appreciated by N1.60 to close at N169.50, while Forte Oil rose by N1.09 to close at N40 per share.

In all, investors exchanged 272.14 million shares worth N3.6 billion in 4,020 deals on Friday against the N255.57 million shares worth N5.03 billion traded in 5,425 deals on Thursday.
