SAN FRANCISCO, August 12, (THEWILL) –The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, on Monday, said the party has put into place some measures of ensuring internal democracy in order to resolve amicably issues affecting the interest of the members of the party.

Addressing the media in Abuja, Tukur explained that in line with this policy, the National Working Committee of the party under his leadership recently set-up a reconciliation committee as an avenue to reconcile aggrieved members of the party and bring peace and harmony into the party. This, according to him, is in keeping with his political philosophy of three cardinal Rs, which is Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebuilding.

“As the National Chairman of the PDP. My commitment to the ideals of our founding Fathers is total and unwavering In trying to actualise these ideological pursuits, the leadership of the PDP has taken a number of decisions also to ensure the proper institutionalisation of discipline in the party as the basis for ensuring internal democracy and smooth administration of the party under my leadership.

“As part of these programmes and efforts, a disciplinary committee headed by Dr. Umaru Dikko has also been set-up to make sure that our party members respect and function in consonance with the letters and Spirit of our party constitution and manifesto,” he said.

According to him, It will be recalled also that the National Executive Committee of the Party, the (NEC) which I am also the chairman by virtue of our party’s constitution had earlier set-up a National Convention Committee and South-West Congresses for elections into vacant positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and the South-West Zonal leadership of the party.

”In the recent past the media has been awash with events of accusations and counter accusations from some of our party members.

As much as we as a party respect the constitutional right of individuals to public opinions, movement and association, such exercise should be done with some element of civility and in keeping with the norms of the society, the party’s constitution and guidelines.

”To this effect it is advisable that party faithful who are aggrieved, should use the party’s internal resolution platform, that is to say the party’s reconciliation committee or the leadership of the party.

''As the National Chairman of the PDP, I will take the party to greater heights under my leadership and ensure that we recapture most of the states we lost to other parties and win more states for our party.

In line with this, the National Working Committee has set-out guidelines for the Anambra State Governorship elections with the ward congresses now in progress.

”Our commitment to the people of Anambra State is to work hard and put in place a PDP administration in the state that will deliver in abundance democratic dividends to the people of the state as is reminiscent in other PDP controlled states nation-wide.

”On the issue of INEC registration of the APC, the PDP as a party in power at the federal and most of the state governments welcome the APC on board the political terrain of Nigerian politics.

PDP as a united and formidable political organisation under a big and unshakable umbrella does not require a merger or coalition with any political organisation to face any other political party in the country to implement her genuine economic programmes aimed at alleviating the sufferings of Nigerian masses under the Transformation Agenda of our Dear President Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan.

As a father, I will continue with all sense of humility and commitment to the ideals of our party, to run the party and ensure that peace unity and love exist among the faithful of our great party, the PDP."
