I am not globe trotting...Gaidam

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state says he will not spend time visiting foreign countries like his counterparts.

Gaidam described the frequent trips of Governors visiting foreign countries under the guise of seeking foreign investors as "globetrotting" saying he will not engage in it.

He said, he will rather use the money for such trips to provide social amenities for his people.

The recent ban on foreign trips imposed on government officials, is to save vital funds for development.

The Governor who spoke through his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, said government has taken the measure to save scarce resources.

According to Mai Mala Buni, the state government's policy of no globetrotting to canvass for investors has saved the state huge resources for development.

He said, as a deliberate policy, Governor Gaidam has refused wasting scarce resources on trips and invested in roads and other infrastructures that will naturally attract investors.

Experiences he said, has shown that huge resources is being wasted under the auspices of seeking foreign investors without a corresponding dividends.

The Governor he said, opted to inject these resources into basic infrastructures that will improve the life of the people of Yobe state
