Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi has condoled with his Lagos State counterpart, Mr Babatunde Fashola and the people of Lagos State on the death yesterday of the governor's father, Alhaji Ademola Fashola.

Governor Obi said he was saddened to hear of the death of the senior citizen at 79 at a time he could have been reaping the fruits of his labour. The Anambra helmsman said although he did not know the late Ademola Fashola personally, he could distill enough of his character from the personality traits of governor Babatunde Fashola and from what our leader, who was his personal friend, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu told me about him.

'This is a sad moment for the Fashola family, the people and government of Lagos State and their friends. They have lost a father, brother, counselor and guardian. I extend to you my deepest sympathy and that of the government and people of Anambra State on the painful loss.'

Governor Obi urged Governor Fashola and the people of Lagos State to take solace in the fact that death awaits everyman and that the deceasedwas the human source of the good season reigning in Lagos State today.

Obi prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Ademola Fashola and for God's grace to enable those directly affected by his transition to cope with the loss.
