Lagos commissioner quits to join FirstBank

Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Tokunboh Abiru, has resigned his appointment with the state government.

He is joining First Bank Holdings as an executive director.

He commended him for rendering meritorious service to the State. He spoke at the State Executive Council meeting.

Governor Babatunde Fashola who announced the development said the government had accepted Abiru's resignation.

Fashola explained that the Commissioner was leaving to take up an appointment as Executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria Plc and a Board member of FBN Holdings Plc. He said he gave commendable service to the state within his short but impactful stay in office.

Abiru, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and professional banker joined the State's public service from the First Bank of Nigeria Plc where he has had over two decades of a successful career, serving variously as Group Head Corporate Banking and Business Development Manager among others.

Abiru's appointment with the bank will take effect from August 1.
