The Gifts of the Holy Spirit Series: Wisdom as Gift of the Holy Spirit

We examined the first gift of the Holy Spirit; Knowledge three weeks ago and identified the 12 areas of Divine Knowledge. Last week, we gave a list of 12 areas of satanic knowledge as revealed by the Holy Spirit. This week, we shall focus on the second gift of the Holy Spirit; Wisdom (1 Corinthians 12: 7-8:“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom…). We examined Knowledge first, because it is the building block of Wisdom. The Wisdom of God is the Tree while Knowledge is the Leaf. Information is the fruit. Knowledge is the ability to discover information; the awareness that information exists and information is the assemblage of concepts, ideas, views and theories. Without information and instruction, Knowledge doesn't exist. That is why in all His dealings with human beings, God always instructs His prophets and those He calls; “Write it down,” as He talks. You don't test someone without instruction and as Apostle Paul aptly said; “…For apart from law, sin is dead” (Romans 7: 8). It is the embodiment of the awareness of the law, instructions and all the hidden things of God that is collectively referred to as Divine Knowledge. The totality of Jehovah Lord God Almighty as the Great Alone is beyond the limited knowledge of His creatures, because it is unsearchable, infinite and eternal. Consequently, it is the few out of the gazillions and gazillions of Knowledge that God chooses to reveal to us that we are able to comprehend as finite human beings, which in turn translate into knowledge for us. But Knowledge is useless, if we don't know how to use it. The Pharisees in the Earthly Days of our Lord Jesus Christ prided themselves as the repository of the Mosaic Law, and were spiritually rich, but the very zenith of Knowledge, Jesus Christ said; “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God,” (Mathew 5:1). While would the poor in spirit make it to heaven and the rich in spirit won't? Simple: the rich in spirit has abundant knowledge but lacks wisdom. The Pharisees had much knowledge, mostly legalistic but lacked Divine Wisdom, because, it is possible to know how to quote the entire Bible by rote word-for-word and still lacks Wisdom because, “… the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life,” (2 Corinthians 3: 6).

So what exactly is Wisdom? Wisdom is the application of Divine Knowledge to make life-changing decisions. In all the areas of knowledge on earth, there is not a single grain of Divine Wisdom in it and that is why the Bible admonished us to renew our minds after we have given our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. There are three things all areas of earthly knowledge are meant to achieve in the affairs of the human race: food, clothing and shelter, period. That is why all earthly education; from pre-K, primary, secondary, post-secondary, technological and polytechnic, bachelor's degree, masters, PhD and all those highfalutin titles are onerous for making a living but not about understanding life. When you give your life to Jesus Christ and take Him as your Lord and Personal Savior, you need to detoxify your brain from all those gobbledygook your brain has been suffused with in these earthly institutions. You begin to renew your mind with the Holy Spirit and the Truth-the Word of God-from the three transient purposes of food, clothing and shelter of earthly knowledge (Mathew 6: 26-33) and shift your spirit, soul and mind unto the three but different objectives of Divine Knowledge namely: the Will of God which is Good, Pleasing and Perfect as opposed to food, clothing and shelter; “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will,” (Romans 12: 2). Do you get it now? All your earthly knowledge; the degrees, plaudits, celebrity status, fame, popularity, pride, political power, economic power, social status etc. will achieve for you only three things; food, clothing and shelter which cease the moment you cease to breathe, thus they are useless in matters of eternity. It is only Divine Wisdom that gives you three things; Good, Pleasing and Perfect Will of God which you need here and the hereafter as you enter eternity. No wonder our Lord Jesus Christ warned us not to be concerned about food, clothing and shelter in Mathew 6: 26-33 because these are the three pre-occupations of pagans; unbelievers. What is the meaning of life? Why am I here? What is the purpose of my creation? How should I live my life? How do I succeed in my purpose on earth? Where did I come from? Where am I going and how do I return safely and successfully to where I came from? Who is my Creator? Where is heaven? Where is hell? How do I know where I will end up after my temporary sojourn here on earth? What is the overall purpose of God for this earth? How do I Glorify my Creator-God Almighty? How do I make my life count and save my soul in a perishing and vast vanishing world? In this demon-infested world where billions are literally walking into eternity with no clue of what awaits them on the Other Side, how can I make my eternity sure? What choices do I make to please my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? No earthly school teaches these fundamental and most important issues of life, because Satan is the god of this temporary world and he and his demons have organized the present worldly system this way. The answers to the above questions and many more cannot be answered by earthly knowledge. The answers are contained in Divine Knowledge and Wisdom. The Divine Knowledge is contained in the Holy Bible, which is the Revealed Truth written by the Holy Spirit. The application of this Divine Knowledge in answering all the above questions and many more issues of life is what is called Divine Wisdom. Without Divine Wisdom, no one can count in the things of eternity. Every human being is here temporarily; our permanence existence lies on the Other Side of the Eternal Divide. Where each and every one of us will ultimately end will be decided here and here now and only Divine Wisdom will enable you to prepare for your eternal citizenship. THE 12 TYPES OF DIVINE WISDOM: Just as we identified the 12 types of Divine Knowledge two weeks ago; similarly, there are 12 types of Divine Wisdom revealed in the Bible namely: (1) Aaronic Wisdom (Exodus 28: 3 “Tell all the skilled men to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest.” This is a special wisdom given to those who are charged with the consecration of priests in the Old Testament. Aaron and his family held the priesthood but consecration belongs to the Levites and a special wisdom of God is needed to carry out this task because, “No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was,” (Hebrews 5: 4). If you're reading this and are a pastor with worshipers under you and you are not cocksure that you are really called to pastor a church, you're in trouble. You see, it is not what we do on this earth as Christians for the Lord that pleases Him but what He asked us to do for Him. This is why Apostle Peter warned us: “Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,” (2 Peter 1: 10). (2) The Mosaic Wisdom as revealed in Deuteronomy 4: 6 is the second type of Divine Wisdom: Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people." This is the wisdom needed to spread the Good News. Some Christians boast that they won souls for God. Wrong. No one can come to the Lord unless the Spirit of God draws him/her so the One who really wins souls is the Holy Spirit. What we are asked to do as Christians is to witness and then allow the Holy Spirit to do the rest. To become a born-again Christian doesn't require conviction, good argumentative skills and deft linguistic delivery and wits. You need this wisdom as an evangelist. (3) Spirit of Wisdom such as the one possessed by Joshua in Deuteronomy 34: 9 is not a concept, an idea or an abstract but a life. “Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelite listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.” Wisdom is a Spirit, the Second Creation of the Jehovah Lord God Almighty after Love. (4) Angelic Wisdom as revealed in 2 Samuel 14: 20 is next: “My lord has wisdom like that of an angel of God - he knows everything that happens in the land.”) is a wisdom that belongs to Angels, as God purposed. This wisdom is not supernatural but spiritual, far above that of Satan and his demons that operate in the supernatural realm, but not in the spiritual realm. There is a difference between the supernatural realm and the spiritual world. That Angelic Wisdom was used by Gabriel in Luke 1: 20 when he told Zechariah: “And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time." The Lord God Almighty never told Gabriel to make Zechariah mute, but Gabriel used his Angelic Wisdom to make such pronouncement, because God had already warned the Israelite in Exodus 23: 20-21; "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.” What Zechariah should have done was ask for a sign as Mary did and not argue or contest with Gabriel after the latter identified himself as: "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news,” (Luke 1: 19). The 5th type of Divine Wisdom is known as the Solomonic Wisdom revealed in 1 Kings 10: 4: “When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built,” Mathew 12: 42: “The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here,” and many more. The Solomonic Wisdom is revealed in the Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Songs of Solomon. (6) The Human Wisdom is identified in several places in the Old Testament but Apostle Paul explained the limit of human wisdom in 1 Corinthians 1: 17: “For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel - not with words of human wisdom lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power,” and in 1 Corinthians 2: 13: “This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words,” respectively.

The remaining six types of Divine Wisdom as revealed in the Bible are; Wisdom of the Righteous given to Elijah II, who came back as the herald in John the Baptist in Luke 1: 17, who: “… will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous - to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." To appropriate the Holiness of God and His Saving Grace in the Virgin Birth, Death by Crucifixion and Resurrection from the Dead of our Lord Jesus Christ requires the Wisdom of Holiness and Redemption as revealed in 1 Corinthians 1: 30 thus: “It is because of him (Jesus) that you (you and I and other born-again and Holy Spirit-filled Christians) are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God - that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” Understanding spiritual matters and things of God require the Wisdom of Understanding as revealed in Ephesians 1: 8: “…that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding,” which reveals to us who we are as redeemed children of God, and our future in Him. If you do not have this Wisdom of Understanding, Christianity has no meaning in your life. How does heaven look like? Can we get a glimpse of our future life in the heavenly mansions that Jesus Christ promised us? Yes. This is contained in the Wisdom of Revelation in Ephesians 1: 17: “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” The 11th and 12th forms of Divine Wisdom are Heavenly Wisdom which gives us the characteristics of God's Wisdom and the Wisdom of God which is the depository of all Wisdom revealed in James 3: 17 and 1 Kings 3: 28 respectively. Each of these 12 types of Divine Knowledge requires a book on its own.

THE SEVEN CHARACTERISTICS OF DIVINE WISDOM: The Bible listed those things to look for when evaluating whether a particular Wisdom is from God or Satan, because Satan and his demons too also have their 12 sets of Wisdom which we shall elucidate upon next week. Here are the seven characteristics which all the above 12 Types of Divine Wisdom possess: Purity, Peace-Loving, Submissive, Merciful and Considerate, Good, Impartiality and Sincerity. (James 3: 17: “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”

NEXT WEEK: We have maintained as the Holy Spirit revealed in the Bible that Satan is the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4). Consequently, Satan and his demons have also devised their different sets of Satanic Wisdom and we shall examine them next week. Remember, Satan wants to be like the Jehovah Lord God Almighty and so duplicates Him every step of the way. Although Satan will not and will never be Jehovah Lord God Almighty, yet he mimics Him all the same until he and his demons and rebellious human beings are consigned permanently to hell where they rightly belong for eternity. But before this current dispensation is done with, the denizens of darkness will continue to deceive, beguile, trick, cajole, bamboozle and hoodwink disobedient children of Adam and Eve to destroy them in the Nether Gloom.

The world media, the commentariat, the scientists, the astrologers, the men and women of earthly wisdom and their ilk will be talking their heads out but will not be able to explain but those who know the True God will be unshaken and unperturbed. What is it? I wasn't shown but was only told (Luke 21:11 & 25).

The second book gives copious Quranic references, with both English and Arabic translations of the motifs treated in the main book and the second section. In Surah 1 Al-Fatiha (1-7): Allah told Mohammad: “In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Ever Merciful, Praise be to Allah, the Lord, Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; the All Merciful, the Ever Merciful, the Possessor of the Day of Judgment; You only we worship and only Your help we seek. Guide us to the Straight Path; the Path of those on whom You have bestowed Your mercy; Not on those against whom You have sent Your wrath; Nor of those who have erred and become lost,”

Arabic Translation:

We used this First Surah or Chapter 1 of the Quran as a peg for the second message contained in the second book. We examined the Quran and the Bible, the lifestyles of Mohammad and Jesus Christ, what Allah and Jehovah God said in the two books of Quran and the Bible respectively and came to some obvious extrapolative conclusions. Find out in the 500-plus pages of the forthcoming book on the important issues of life. A must read for all.
