Delta: Cultists Sack Ovwian Grammar School

SAN FRANCISCO, July 16, (THEWILL) – Academic activities were brought to a halt on Tuesday when gun wielding young men suspected to be cultists invaded Ovwian Grammar School in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, leaving students and teachers of the school scampering for safety.

Some of the fleeing students and teachers, according to unconfirmed reports, sustained injuries while running for their dear lives while some female students were allegedly raped by the invading cultists.

Though the cause of the invasion is not yet clear, impeccable sources in the area said an earlier clash between the students may have led to the attack by the suspected cultists who had to flee into the bush when the police in the area stormed the school.

Last year, the school was closed down by the State Government following a riot by the students over alleged shooting of a female student by the Ovwian local vigilante group.

A teacher in the school was said to have invited the local vigilante members to the school to stop some of the students who were throwing fireworks in the school during which a female student was hit by a stray bullet fired by the vigilante group.

The ensuing riot was said to have resulted to the vandalisation of 10 cars belonging to the teachers while two teachers and a female student were injured.
