The forthcoming African Fashion Week London (AFWL) has received a major boost with the announcement on Friday by National Telecoms Operator, Globacom, that it would sponsor the show.

AFWL which will be held in London, United Kingdom, from August 1st to 4th is a collaborative fashion and arts exhibition that will showcase the best of African fashion,  with over 100 top designers from the continent and beyond showcasing their designs and products.

Globacom in a press release stated that the company is sponsoring the event to help promote and sustain African fashion and cultural heritage.

'As a truly Nigerian company operating within the African continent, Globacom will continue to be associated with the development of African work of art, literature, fashion and culture”, the statement said.

The Fashion Show, organizers say, has over time become the biggest African inspired fashion event of its kind in the UK and Europe, and aims to promote the works of Africa and African-inspired designers and fine artists globally.

The fashion week will also be an opportunity to showcase Africa's rich socio-cultural heritage in general, and Nigeria’s rising fashion pedigree in particular.  Organisers of the show said a series of activities and performances have been lined up to make the African Fashion Week London an exciting one.

Globacom therefore called on all Africans in London, and Europe to troop out in large numbers to the venue of the event to experience the best of African designs on the runway.
