Ajimobi, Fashola, Fayemi to speak at Awo Institute conference

The Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, and his counterparts from Lagos and Oyo States, Mr. Raji Fashola and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, are expected to speak at the opening ceremony of a two-day international conference on “Leadership and Governance in Africa” hosted by the Obafemi Awolowo Institute of Government and Public Policy, Lekki, Lagos.

The conference, which is organised by Dr. Wale Adebanwi of the University of California, US, and Dr. Ebenezer Obadare of the University of Kansas, US, will start onĀ Friday, July 12, 2013. Others expected at the conference include the National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, governors across the country, scholars from North America, Europe and Africa and Nigeria-based academics, civil society activists, and captains of industry.

The keynote address, entitled “ObafemiĀ  Awolowo: Knowledge, Leadership and Governance” will be delivered by Professor Olufemi Taiwo, who holds a new chair in African Political Thought at Cornell University, New York, USA.
