2015: Anambra PDP endorse Automatic Ticket for Jonathan, Govs, Others

The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday threw their weight behind a call for the amendment of PDP’s constitution, granting President Goodluck Jonathan, an automatic ticket ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

They further craved automatic tickets for performing PDP governors, members of the National and State assemblies saying it would stem friction in the run up to the elections.

The Anambra State chairman of PDP, Ken Emeakayi, declared the party’s position to adopt President Jonathan for the 2015 presidential race while addressing newsmen after the presentation of their resolution which was received by acting National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Tony Caesar Okeke, the on behalf of the national leadership of PDP.

Emeakayi also said they have endorsed the former National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh to return as the national party’s spokesperson.

While advocating for the single tenure amendment to be done at the forthcoming mini National Convention of the party they passed a vote of confidence on Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as the national chairman of the PDP.

Emeakayi said ” we urge President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, to accept to run for a second term and we hereby adopt him as our candidate for the 2015 presidential elections.

“That we recommend the further amendment of the PDP Constitution 2012 (as amended) in the forthcoming PDP National Convention to allow for the right of first refusal (automatic ticket) as PDP candidates, to serving and performing PDP, president, governors, national and state assembly members, to reduce infighting associated with our party primary elections.”

He noted that the resolutions were reached at an extra-ordinary meeting by the leaderships of the 326 wards, local governments and the State Executive Committee of the party.
