Fayose, A Liar Can't Be Adopted As Ekiti PDP Guber Candidate—Group Insists

By Ekiti Justice Group (EJG)

Ekiti Justice Group (EJG) has described the reported adoption of former governor, Ayo Fayose by stakeholders in the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the preferred choice for the governorship ticket as a "fraud taken too far," saying; "No reasonable member or group of PDP in Ekiti would adopt Fayose as the party's governorship candidate."

EJG said Ekiti State had passed the era of "jankara politics" that Fayose was known for, added that; "the PDP in Ekiti State will not gamble with fielding a governorship candidate with sordid past."

Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, EJG Coordinator, Comrade Ebenezer Olaleye said no such meeting in which any PDP stakeholder adopted Fayose took place in any hotel in Ekiti as reported. He disclosed that the only meeting he knew took place where some of those who defected to the PDP from Labour Party (LP) alongside Fayose met was held in his (Fayose) Afao-Ekiti home.

Olaleye said; "As one of the youth leaders of PDP in Ekiti State, I think I am among those who will determine whom we want and whom we do not want as our governorship candidate, and I can say it categorically that one of those we don't want as our party candidate is Ayo Fayose.

"Reasons are; Fayose cannot form alliance with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) against the PDP during the 2009 rerun governorship election and now want to benefit from the party he helped the ACN to destroy.

"For instance, if tomorrow, Fayose is picked as the PDP governorship candidate, all that the ACN needs as a campaign tool is the picture of Fayose displaying a 'Vote For Fayemi' placard that he (Fayose) carried during the burial of his father in 2009 or the other one that he carried while riding on Okada round Ado-Ekiti during the 2009 rerun poll.

"Apart from Fayose's open support for the ACN in 2009, cases of his alleged poultry scam and murder of Tunde Omojola are still pending in court.

"Most importantly, Ekiti people are against the present ACN government of Kayode Fayemi over its political intolerance, thuggery, assault and state indebtedness. It will then be unreasonable to think that the people will accept a return of the political intolerance that was witnessed between 2003 and 2006 that he (Fayose) held sway as governor.

"Therefore, Fayose and his cohorts should know now that no amount of kangaroo adoption by unknown stakeholders will get him the PDP ticket because that governorship ticket is for credible people and not people whose luggages are full of negativity."
