Nigerian Leaders Have No Respect For Due Process - Nda-Isaiah

By The Citizen

The Chairman LEADERSHIP Group, Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah yesterday in Sokoto lamented that governance and politicking in Nigeria are constantly done without regard for the rule of law.

To keep the country's leaders in check and to make the desired impact in governance, Nda-Isaiah urged Nigerian youths to shun money politics and collectively work for corrupt-free country. He said that the youths in any nation should be democratic vanguards, but lamented that the Nigerian youths are the most neglected in the scheme of things, nation building inclusive.

The Chairman, who was represented by Hajiya Mariya Ibrahim Baba at a one-day workshop organised by thenational leadership of the Northern Youth Assembly at Sultan Maccido Institute of Qua'ranic and General Studies, further admonished the youths to work hard and embrace education so that they could diversify and maximise their talents.

He said it was unhealthy for some states in the north to place emphasis on the variation in revenue sharing formula, noting that, 'the North built Lagos. Why should the north sit and think of derivation or revenue sharing formula when it has more than what the south has? Continuing, Nda-Isaiah who was the lead discussant at the workshop, declared that the older generation of Nigerians are not mentoring the youths, adding that the north will continue to have problems so long as it abandoned agriculture and failed to fully utilise its God-given natural and human resources.

'Nigeria is more blessed in all ramifications, but more backward in all statistics. It should also be noted that lack of good usage of the nation's human and natural endowment is its greatest challenge' Nda-Isaiah observed.

Speaking earlier, the president, Northern Youth Assembly, Comrade Ibrahim Waya noted that the theme of the workshop, ' Youth and the Nigerian Project Challenges and Prospects of Preserving the Unity and Corporate Existence of the Nigerian State' warned that all hands must be on deck for the nation to move forward.

Dignitaries at the occasion included representatives of the governors of Niger, Kano, and Kebbi states; students from various states and youth organisations from the north.
