CBN under Sanusi has too broad focus' says Utomi

By The Rainbow

Professor Pat Utomi has said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is pursuing a wide vision that takes its focus away from its primary functions.
He advised that the regulator should narrow its vision to essential macroeconomic management and financial sector stability.
Utomi was speaking in a 95.1 Nigerian Info programme on Monday morning.

He was answering a question on how the current CBN Governor has fared on his job.

Although he did not pinpoint areas where he thought that the governor had diverged off mark, there had criticisms of the bank's direct intervention like in n aviation funding, etc.

He was also critical of the recent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures being spewed out by the Federal Government, saying that any growth that does not reflect on job creation was suspect.
