Jonathan: Blair happy with Nigeria
After meeting with the Acting President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the immediate past
British Prime Minister Tony Blair has expressed happiness for the 'wise way he
(Jonathan) and the institutions of the Nigerian government have handled themselves
in the last few days'.
Blair told reporters in Abuja that Nigerian officials have used skills to handle the
leadership crisis that follows the absence of President Yar'Adua who is in Saudi
Arabia battling his health.
" I want to say it has been a pretty difficult situation and I think they have handled it
with skill…Even in what seems to be a unique and difficult situation," he noted
Blair is in Nigeria as part of a West African tour. He is also scheduled to visit Liberia
and Sierra Leone.
