Jonathan appoints Agwai as new deputy chairman of SURE-P
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of former Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai (RTD) as the new Deputy Chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).
Lt-Gen Agwai, a former Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff replaces Major-General Mamman Kontagora who passed away last week.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, said in a statement on Thursday that 'the highly-decorated General who also held several other military appointments within and outside the country, including Deputy Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone and Force Commander of the African Union Mission in Sudan, has been a member of the SURE-P Committee since its establishment by the Jonathan Administration in February last year.'
