SAN FRANCISCO, May 27, (THEWILL) – This is not the best of times for the embattled Rivers State governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, as the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears not satisfied yet with his suspension by the National Working Committee (NWC) but has moved ahead to set up an investigative panel to probe the petitions against him.

At the head of the 11-member investigative panel is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Joe Gadzama, whose committee is expected to beam a searchlight on all matters related to the NWC’s decision to suspend Amaechi.

The committee is also expected to look at the Rivers State governor’s alleged role in violating Articles 58 1 (b), (c ), (h) and (m) of the PDP Constitution following his refusal to obey the lawful directive of the Rivers State Executive Committee to rescind his decision dissolving the elected Executive Council of Obiokpor Local Government Area of the State.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, who informed journalists on the recent development, listed other members of the investigating committee to include the PDP National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwon; Arc. Inalegwu Onche; Friday Nwosu; Hon. Udorji Amedu; Ola Kukuyi; Hon. Wakil Mohammed; Yusuf Jangwe; Mrs Bola Doherty; Barrister Tanimu Adamson with Anicho Okoro as Secretary.

However, Metuh did not give the time frame within which the committee is expected to conclude its assignment.
