Osun Govt. Turns Assassination Spot To Park For Peace

Osun state government has said that  a spot of assassination that was turned to a multi-million naira park was to ensure peace and allow development efforts to thrive.

Mr Bola Ilori, Special Adviser to Gov. Rauf Aregbesola on Environment and Sanitation, made told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government.

Ilori was clarifying the essence of the unveiling of a park named Hassan Olajoku International Park in memory of Olajoku, a politician.

Olajoku; a politician from Gbogan; was killed by hoodlums at Gbongan junction eight years ago.

NAN recalls that Olajoku was an associate and a benefactor of Aregbesola, who was said to have identified closely with the governor in the course of his political struggle.

The Special Adviser said although the death of Olajoku had been a painful loss, naming the park after him would continue to be a memorial of his contribution to a peaceful democracy in the state.

Ilori said that having gone through the pains and struggles of democracy, the state was committed to the attainment of peace, development and progress.

He said that the spot where gunmen killed Olajoku in a dastardly act was now turned to a park of beautiful environment and relaxation.

He said that the park was part of the ongoing beautification efforts of the state government to make the state a tourist delight.

NAN recalls that the governor had on Wednesday said, “Olajoku believed in the need for progressive change and committed himself to the cause before his death.
