Attack On MOB: Igede Youths Demands Apology From LG Boss Over Comments

By The Nigerian Voice

Youths in Igede-Ekiti, Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State has described as false, malicious and insulting, claim by the Council Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Awe, that the House of Representatives member representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele was attacked by Igede-Ekiti youths, who felt he betrayed the electorate.

In a release issued today, the youths under the aegis of Igede-Ekiti Youths Council (IYC) and signed by its President, Mr Opeyemi Fatunla, said; "it is an insult on Igede-Ekiti people for youths in the town to be branded as thugs and killers, and we demand an unreserved apology from the Council Chairman within 14 days."

Fatunla said failure to tender an unreserved apology will result to the Chairman being declared as personal non grata in Igede-Ekiti.

Mr. Bamidele, otherwise known as MOB was attacked in the house Chief Adu Akindele, where he had gone to negotiate the rentage of a building in Ado-Ekiti, which he intends to use as his campaign office. Several shots were fired at his Sports Utility Vehicle by the hoodlums but he (Bamidele) escaped by whiskers.

Bamidele had accused Mr. Tajudeen Awe of being the brain behind the attack, claiming that it was Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) thugs that attacked him.

Reacting to Bamidele's claim, Mr Awe had denied involvement in the attack, saying; he (Bamidele) was attacked by Igede-Ekiti youths, who felt he betrayed the electorate.

However, the IYC said; "It is important that we clear our names and that of Igede-Ekiti of this blemish splashed on us by Mr. Tajudeen Awe, who out of his desperation to defend the dastardly act carried out in Igede-Ekiti by his thugs branded youths in our town as thugs and killers.

"While we are not interested in defending any politician, we the youths in Igede-Ekiti reject the criminal identity attached to us by the Council Chairman and demand that he apologise to us within 14 days.

"Failure to do this may lead to his being declared as personal non grata in Igede-Ekiti and we mean it.

"Also, since Mr. Awe knows the thugs who attacked Hon. Bamidele, he must tell the whole world who among the youths in Igede-Ekiti participated in that dastardly attempt to murder Hon. Bamidele."
