At least Five Dead As Boko Haram Attack Destroys Former IGP, Ringim's Residence

FORMER INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE, ALHAJI AFIZ RINGIM

SAN FRANCISCO, April 29, (THEWILL) – The residence of a former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Afiz Ringim has been destroyed by the Boko Haram which also attacked a police station and commercial bank in Ringim, Jigawa State.


At least five persons including policemen and civilian guards were killed when the Boko Haram attacked the city with IEDs and guns.


The police command confirmed the attack to journalists.


Ringim left Nigeria over a year ago after he was retired as head of the Nigerian police force and has shuttled between Saudi Arabia and London, citing threats to his life by the Boko Haram. Media reports say he has since filed asylum papers to remain permanently in the United Kingdom.
