NLC decries Benue Govt inability to pay N18,000 minimum wage to teachers

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has decried the failure of the Benue State government to commence the payment of the N18,000 minimum wage to its teachers, warning that this could constitute a major threat to industrial harmony in the state.

Labour's warning is coming few days after a protest match by the affected teachers over the issue, which later turned violent in Makurdi,  the state capital.

Addressing newsmen yesterday after the state Executive Council meeting of the union, the Vice Chairman of the NLC, Emmanuel Jumpa said: 'Labour would continue to stand by Benue State teachers in their moment of challenge'.
