German bank honours Fidelity Bank, Ecobank
Deutsche Bank has presented Fidelity Bank Plc and Ecobank Nigeria Limited with its excellence certificates of 'Straight Through Payment' processing.
The STP awards from the German bank are given to acknowledge outstanding performance with respect to payments processing.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Lagos on Friday, the Regional Head, West Africa, Deutsche Bank, Mr. Charles Weller, commended the managements of Fidelity Bank and Ecobank for their performances.
The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank, Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi, said, 'This is an award for excellence in STP on the hard currency given by Deutsche Bank. It is a very competitive award and, to have been selected, you would have scored 98 per cent error free transactions. It is a commendation from Duetche, which is a leader in trade finance in the US dollar market.
'It shows that once you do a transaction with Fidelity, the remittance would be in your account before you leave the bank. It is just an excellent service delivery. We are very happy to win; it is something worth celebrating.'
On his part, the Managing Director, Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Jibril Aku, said, 'We are indeed very pleased that our systems are responding to the customers' demand. Today, customers can make an STP payment. For us, it is a major milestone and an achievement and we are very pleased that Deutsche Bank has once more adjudged us as one of the winners of this award this year.'
Mrs. Adeola Azeez of Deutsche Bank said that the award was introduced as a result of the international bank's drive to help create exceptional, efficient and customer-focused STP processing globally.
The award, which was instituted over a decade ago, according to her, recognises institutions that have achieved exceptionally high percentage of payments without requirements for manual intervention annually.
She added, 'Deutsche Bank is continually setting higher standards and is focused on helping our clients achieve the highest possible STP rates, resulting in high level of efficiency, lower costs and faster turnaround times for your customer's payment. Our STP winners have displayed obvious commitment to meeting these standards and we are proud to celebrate you tonight.'
