SAN FRANCISCO, April 17, (THEWILL) - Nigeria Village Square (NVS or “The Square”), a pioneer in the social and political mobilization of Nigerians on the web, is marking its 10th anniversary.

Over the past 10 years, NVS has built up a reputation as a virtual watering hole, an authoritative source of rich commentary and a forum for free intellectual interchange of ideas for matters of relevance to Nigerians and friends of Nigeria. It’s not surprising that over the years, opinion leaders have graced the pages of NVS to test their ideas.

To mark the milestone and in line with its drive for social consciousness, NVS said it is planning to raise funds to set up or furnish "Smart Libraries" in ten rural locations across Nigeria; and also launch an anthology of articles "Village Voices".

Each of these smart libraries will be equipped with a satellite internet system, solar power, computers, and donated books, the NVS said in a release.

NVS members have over the years identified and rallied around causes in the realms of charitable contributions, political activism, social sensitization and popular education.
