You have Done Well for NYSC, Director- General to Obi

The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Nnamdi Okorie-Affia has commended Gov. Peter Obi for what he described as his invaluable assistance to the Corps in Anambra State. He said this yesterday when he led some top functionaries of the Corps to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor at Governor's Lodge, Amawbia, yesterday.

The DG, who said the visit was primarily to thank the Governor for assisting the Corps members in the State said he was so elated by the decision of the Governor to build a befitting Orientation Camp for the NYSC in the State. He also mentioned other forms of assistance by the Governor to include: augmenting the feeding of corps members on camp, rebuilding and provision of facilities at the temporary camp, maintaining of the road to the camp, financial assistance, unusual concern for the welfare of all corps members posted to Anambra State, among others.

The DG who appealed for Certificate-of-Occupancy for the place they are building their State Secretariat, called on other governors to emulate Obi on his relationship with the State NYSC.

Responding, Governor Obi said the assistance to the body was in line with the policy of the State to collaborate with all the federal agencies in the State for the good of the people of the State. He said that the assistance was extended to all agencies, and gave example with the Police the State, for whom over 300 vehicles had been procured. He also said that the State presented a cheque of 100 Million Naira to the Army, being first payment for the rehabilitation of the roads within the Barracks at Onitsha. “Beyond this, most other agencies such as the Immigration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Navy, NTA, Civil Defence, among others, have received one form of assistance or the other.

Speaking, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dr. Edozie Aroh said that the Governors commitment to the youth was unparallel.
