Abuja Feb 11, (THEWILL) – Nigerian Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday swore in 17 new permanent secretaries whose appointments were delayed because of the president's illness and long absence from government.

The swearing in of the top civil servants who would head various federal ministries and parastatals is a sign that government business is gradually returning to an ideal level. During the ceremony, the acting president urged the officials to shun corruption.

Dr. Goodluck Jonathan formally assumed full presidential powers on Tuesday after a political solution involving a National Assembly resolution. The executive council on Wednesday also declared to support him in the discharge of his duties.

In his first use of his powers, he removed controversial attorney general and minister of justice, Michael Aondoakaa from his position to a less influential office.

Pundits expect many more changes in the cabinet this quarter.
