House Urges FG to Construct Flyover/Pedestrian Bridge At Ore Junction

SAN FRANCISCO, March 26, (THEWILL) – Worried by the incessant accidents on the Benin-Lagos road, the House of Representatives, Tuesday, urged the federal ministry of works to construct flyovers and pedestrian bridges across the road, especially the flashpoint at Ore junction in Ondo State.

The resolution was taken after a motion brought by Hon. Akintola Albert (PDP Ondo State), who said this had become necessary because of the importance of the road as a link on Benin-Lagos highway bypass at Ore and connects Okitipupa Irere, Ilaja, Ese-Odo, Odigbo, Ondo east, Ondo west Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

He said that the road is busy but notorious for heavy traffic and fatal accidents throughout the year, especially during weekends and festival periods.

He expressed concerned that the loss of many man-hour caused by the delay in vehicular movement has negative consequences for business and other road users.


According to him, "similar flyover and pedestrian bridges have been constructed at various accident flashpoints on our major highways across the country in order to save lives and properties.”
