ROME, Italy, February 11, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The Italian government has donated €200,000 for the victims of flooding in the province of Gaza in southern Mozambique. In a communiqué issued by the Embassy of Italy in Maputo, the Italian government announced its intention to make the donation available through the World Food Program (WFP) in response to the recent flooding that has hit that Mozambican province particularly hard.

The Italian funds will be used to supplement WFP food security efforts and ensure the distribution of food stocks to the victims of flooding in four districts of that southern province, where 91 deaths have been reported and over 150,000 displaced persons are being sheltered in reception centres.
