OBASANJO IN SURPRISE VISIT TO JONATHAN

By NBF News

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday paid a surprise visit to President Goodluck  Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,  just as he attended a Sunday church service at Aso Villa Chapel  in the company of a business mogul, Mr. Femi Otedola, and two of his daughters.

This came barely three days after Obasanjo blamed the growing spate of the Boko Haram insurgence on the poor handling of the situation by the Jonathan government.

LEADERSHIP gathered authoritatively that Obasanjo, who took the second reading in yesterday church service at Aso Villa, followed President Jonathan to the children's church.

A reliable source at the presidency told our correspondent that after the service, Obasanjo accompanied the president and the first lady, Dame Patience, for lunch before leaving the Villa in mid-afternoon.

He is one of those misleading the President - ACN
Meanwhile, the leading opposition party in the country, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has reacted to Obasanjo's visit to the Presidential Villa, saying that the development did not come as a surprise to it, accusing him of misleading the president.

Speaking through its chief scribe, Senator Lawal Shuaibu , the ACN said Obasanjo was part and parcel of the maladministration going on in the presidency.

He said, ''Whenever Obasanjo speaks about the Jonathan presidency, he talks from both sides of his mouth. This is why we are amused each time somebody like Reuben Abati has time to answer Obasanjo. This is because he is part and parcel of the government policies.

'He could be cold today and hot tomorrow. He is one of those that are misleading President Jonathan, and whenever the president commits a blunder as advised by Obasanjo, the same Obasanjo would be the first person that would take the president to the cleaners.'

The ACN scribe, however, acknowledged that Obasanjo's criticisms of Jonathan's policies were in order.

'But in fairness to Obasanjo, all his criticisms of the Jonathan Presidency are true but the fact of the matter is, he is part and parcel of the government. This is why they would always welcome Obasanjo back into the Villa anytime he wants to show up,' he said.
