Gunmen Kill Two Persons, Set Police Station on Fire in Kano
SAN FRANCISCO, January 31, (THEWILL) - Suspected gunmen, Wednesday night in Kano, stormed a police division with rockets and other dangerous weapons, killing a policeman and an unidentified person before setting the police station on fire.
The incident happened at the police division at Bunkure Local Government Area, about 45 kilometres from Kano metropolis.
Speaking on the incident, an eyewitness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the police station which was located near the town main market was attacked by the gunmen who threw an explosive at the building, resulting in a partial destruction of the building.
Spokesman of the police in the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Musa Magaji Majia, confirmed the attack, saying “one of our officers was killed along with an unidentified person”.
He explained that security personnel have been drafted to the area with a view to making arrest even as he assured that investigation into the attack had commenced.
