HMSFA I RECEIVES IN AUDIENCE THE OUTGOING HIGH COMMISSIONER OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

The Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs I, Prof. Viola Adaku Onwuliri, today on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, received in audience the outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency, Mr. Kingsley Mamabolo.

The Honourable Minister in her remarks commended the outgoing High Commissioner for his hard work and dedication to promoting, boosting and deepening relations between Nigeria and South Africa during his tour of duty in Nigeria.

While congratulating the High Commissioner on his new appointment as Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations, New York, she called for close cooperation and collaboration between Nigeria and South Africa, particularly on African issues, with a view to having a unified agenda that would move the continent forward.

In his response, the High Commissioner, His Excellency, Mr. Kingsley Mamabolo, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, and the people of Nigeria for the opportunity to serve in a great country like Nigeria. He thanked the Honourable Minister for the cooperation he enjoyed during his tenure and urged for the consolidation of South Africa – Nigeria relations, through the instrument of the Bi-National Commission with a view to attracting more investments.

He reassured the Honourable Minister of ensuring that the warm relations enjoyed by both countries would continue even in his absence.
