Baird Welcomes Adoption of Road Map by Malian Assembly

OTTAWA, Canada, January 30, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:

“Canada welcomes the adoption of a “road map for transition” by the Malian National Assembly today in Bamako.

“It is important for the country to work toward free and fair presidential and legislative elections. We are pleased that key actors in Mali appear committed to bridge a way forward that will restore democracy, constitutional order and territorial integrity to Mali.

“We are committed to working with Mali and its neighbours to bring about the return of security, stability and democracy for the people of Mali.”
