PRINCE TONYE PRINCEWILL WEPT PROFUSELY OVER THE JOS MAYHEM AS HE COMMENDS GOV AMAECHI FOR EVACUATING RIVERS STATE INDIGENES FROM JOS ON TIME

By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze

Prince Tonye Princewill the Rivers State AC Leader who after seeing the ugly pictures of littered human bodies on the streets of Jos and environs and structures and property destroyed during the unwarranted mayhem in Jos busted into tears and could not control himself before party chieftains who visited to welcome him back from his European tour where he has gone to look for foreign investors for Rivers State. When he was able to get himself back, he uttered, “Wao, what a shame that people should embark on such evil against their fellow human beings in the name of religion! This is totally unacceptable either by me or any right thinking person. This is not politics as the act should be condemned in its entirety. I am mostly concerned about this sad event as Jos was the first part of Nigeria that I knew immediately my father came back with me from London where I was born. I have a special attachment to that city as it gave me my initial education about life and our country, Nigeria. The vision that I have today about virile, prosperous, vibrant and united Nigeria was inculcated in me by the Jos community so I am traumatized by this wanton destruction recorded and lack of peace in that city recently. To me Jos is home and home is Jos, it used to be a peaceful city when my father, His Majesty, King (Prof) TJT Princewill the present Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Amayanabo of the Kalabari Kingdom was a Lecturer in UNIJOS.

I must commend the Vice President, Dr Jonathan Goodluck for the steps he took to arrest the ugly situation and the great address he presented on this issue which no other Leader in the past has done and wish to urge him to ensure that all the culprits that led to this incident are not only punished adequately but past white papers on the past crisis should be implemented to prevent the reoccurrence of such wanton destruction of human lives and property. Any act or action that makes any Nigerian not to be safe in any party of the country should be abhorred and discouraged.

For the timely evacuation of Rivers State indigenes from Jos during this unfortunate incident, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi the Governor of Rivers State has once again demonstrated that he is truly a Leader we can trust and put our fate on. Apart from demonstrating his ability to govern with unprecedented projects scattered all over the State to show for his love for our State, his vision for a great River State is no longer in doubt. As much as we know that Nigeria has no future in the hands of PDP, Amaechi has shown that it is no longer political party that matters but individual leader's ability to lead his people”.

On the recent call by General Olusegun Obasanjo the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on President Yar'Adua to resign his office as the President on moral ground as his health can no longer permit him to rule, the Prince of Niger Delta Politics and the Leader of organized opposition in Rivers State enthused thus, “General Obasanjo should be the last person expected to utter such a statement considering that he was the one that foisted Yar'Adua on Nigerians to demonstrate his disdain for Nigerians for refusing him his evil third tern project and in the process scuttled his erstwhile Vice President, Atiku Abubkar Presidency that would have taken this country to its desired destiny as his blue print on how to develop this country is still a study on the elusive future of Nigeria. To me his statement is the rattling of a fading Emperor looking for relevance even as it becomes imperative that Dr. Goodluck should be encouraged to act on behalf of Yar'adua pending when he gets over his sickness”.

The Prince finally stated, I am back fully charged for politics and development of Rivers State. I will shortly brief the Governor of the outcome of my European tour before jetting out to Abuja to purse a course that will change the political landscape of Nigeria and give the country a new direction politically; it is time we take our destiny in our hands. We are going to restructure AC in Rivers State while weeding out those that have become liabilities and bring on board technocrats and patriotic Rivers State people to impact on the type of party that will take us to the next level. The period of allowing job less politicians to distract us in our vision to create a new Rivers State has gone”.
