Anambra State Security Situation- Death at River Amansea

The Progressive Youth Movement for Good Governance has called on the Governor of Anambra state Governor Peter Obi and the Commissioner of Police Anambra State to investigate the death and bodies found in Amansea river of Anambra state and make arrest as a matter of urgency.

In a communique to the press in Abuja Nigeria, Mr Martin Ogboogu, Secretary General of the Progressive Youth Movement for Good Governance described the incident as ugly, barbaric and inhumane. He called on the police to swing into immediate action to bring the culprit to Justice. Martin Ogboogu further advised Governor Peter Obi to do more on security, stating that crime in Anambra state was still relatively high and mechanisms needs to be put in place to cut crime.

Martin Ogboogu further stated that insecurity and lawlessness if not checked could arrest development and the much needed investors in Anambra state. He further advised the state government to review her distress call out procedure for Anambra state citizens by implementing an effective and easier way of making distress call when in such situations. He stated that the Government should create more local command and control centers to enhance quicker responds to persons in security need like is done in every decent society. Anambra state Government should create a memorable three digits phone number instead of the numerous 11 digit number currently in use for distress call out. A three digit emergency number would enable persons in distress to be able to contact the police easily. Its very scary to imagine that as a common man when one is in such difficult security situations there is no one to turn to for assistance.
