Banks close shop over bomb scare in Kano

Most banks in Kano hurriedly closed shop Monday afternoon, following the recovery and detonation of high caliber Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs)  planted in one of the first generation banks located within the highbrow Murtala Muhammad way, Kano.

According to an eye witness, the bomb strategically concealed  and laid under one of the bank  officials' car, was  removed by the  anti -bomb disposal team and  detonated.

The source explained that the police team who had arrived, cordoned off the affected stretch of Murtala Muhammad way while the exercise lasted

The development forced banks in the troubled city to hurriedly close shop as customers  who besieged the banks were locked out.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kano Command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia said that, 'we received a report that a strange object is lying fallow in the premises of a bank along Murtala Muhammad way. We dispatched our Anti-bomb Disposal team who established it was an Improvised Explosive Devise and was defused immediately'

The police Image maker stated that normalcy had since returned and enjoined the general public to go about their legitimate duties without fear of molestation.
