Gunmen Kill Two Policemen In Kano's Kawo Tishama District

SAN FRANCISCO, January 14, (THEWILL) – Two policemen were killed by suspected gunmen who also injured two other persons at the Kawo Tishama area on the outskirt of Kano metropolis on Monday.

An eye witness told THEWILL that the incident, which occurred around 4 pm, happened when the gunmen riding on a tricycle popularly known as ‘A Daidaita Sahu’ arrived the area and opened fire on some policemen who were manning a check-point.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, ASP Magaji Majiya, who confirmed incident, said two policemen were killed while two other civilians were also injured during the incident.

‘’Two of our policemen were gunned down while two civilians were injured during the gun battle between the gunmen and our men,’’ Majiya said.

He disclosed that the hoodlums engaged the policemen in a gun battle during which the two policemen were killed with two civilians who got caught up in the exchange of fire sustained injuries .

Majiya, who also disclosed that some of the suspected gunmen escaped with some bullet injuries, explained that security operatives were quickly mobilised to the scene of the incident.

He stated that security had been beefed up in the area to effect arrest of the suspects,adding that ‘’investigation into the incident has also commenced.’’
