http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/blog/?attachment_id=122009 Ebonyi State Governor Martin Elechi, yesterday, declined to accept or reject the offer to contest the senatorial seat of Ebonyi Central District in the 2015 general elections.

A group known as Ebonyi Youth Assembly (EYA) at a New Year homage requested Governor Elechi to declare his intention to contest the senatorial position currently occupied by Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu and leave the rest for the group.

The leader of the group, Comrade Chinedu Ogah had declared that Governor Elechi has done very well in office and deserves a parting gift.

Ogah announced that it was the group's desire to deliver the senatorial seat to Governor Elechi, no matter what it takes, if only he could make his intentions known.

The youth group also pledged its readiness to assist the state to realise a free and fair Local Government election by the second quarter of this year.

But in his response, Governor Elechi thanked the group for its good intentions but pleaded that he be allowed to complete his tenure successfully, and noted that things would sort themselves out at the appointed time.

'The thing you talked about, the senate, an Aro man says 'when you finish what you are eating, you start eating another thing'; leave me alone to swim out of the murky water where I'm now before you talk of the future; things will work themselves out.

'But I thank you for your good intensions; we are now retiring into inactivity, we will leave a most vibrant stage where we are now.

There is so much to be done subsequently. You don't even have the man power to do the necessary things but we will strive not to disappoint you both in our actions and in your expectations'.
