ANPP BOT MEMBER RESIGNS MEMBERSHIP

http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/blog/?attachment_id=121869 Barely three months to the March 16, 2013 area council election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) member of the Board of Trustees of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) in the FCT, Isah Yahaya has resigned membership of the board and the party.

Yahaya, who is also a founding member of the party in the FCT, and has contested for chairman of Bwari area council four times without success on the party's platform was earlier this year barred from contesting the election on the party platform.

While observers say this may have forced him to leave the party, Yahaya who made his resignation known in a letter addressed to the chairman of the party did not offer specific reasons for his resignation but told reporters that the party had failed to stabilise, move forward or maintain a viable opposition status in the FCT.

The letter reads in part, 'I Yahaya Isah, a founding member of ANPP FCT Abuja and four time chairmanship Candidate of the ANPP in Bwari area council, presently member of the National Board of Trustees (BoT) representing the FCT Abuja for obvious reasons hereby, formally resign as member of the BoT and consequently, resign my membership of the ANPP.'

Speaking to newsmen, Yahaya said his resignation from the party would enable him move forward in his political career, adding that it was also in response to pressure from members of the party who trust in his leadership and demanded he aligns himself with a platform from which he can make a significant difference in the lives of the people of Bwari.

He observed that politics is a game of numbers and opinion of the followership therefore; it would amount to political suicide if he ignores the demands of his followers who have entrusted him with their confidence to lead them politically.

'My system of politics in any circumstance goes with peoples' opinion.

Anything I do has to represent the views and interest of the people and at the same time if you see the way the ANPP has been going in the past 13 years, all my contemporaries with whom we established the

ANPP in Abuja are still in the party.
The party could neither move forward nor stabilise; the party could not even maintain its status as a viable opposition, yet it is not a ruling party.

In my mind if the party is not a ruling party, it ought to take its place as a viable opposition that would rival the ruling party with a view to making life improve for the people and for the development of the society. A situation where the party fails to be any of these then you can see that there is a problem and that is why ANPP continues to go down and down,' he added.

Yahaya, however, did not give any hint as to the new party on which platform he hopes to actualise his aspiration.
