Governor, retired military chief suspected killed in helicopter crash

A serving governor and a retired military chief are believed to have been killed in a helicopter crash in Balyelsa State.

The crash occurred in a swampy location near Okoroba community in Nembe local government area of the state, reports said.

Although details of the casualty figure are still vague, it is feared that all passengers in the craft died in the mishap. Meanwhile, an emergency rescue operation is currently underway at the scene of the crash.

They helicopter is said to be carrying dignitaries that attended the burial of the father of President Goodluck Jonathan's adie, Oronto Dougulas.
