Lagos, Nigeria. 30 November, 2012: Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of quality food products, has donated relief materials to flood victims in Delta and Anambra states.

The company made the donations which include dairy, beverage and food enhancement products to ease the effects of the disaster on the victims who have been living at the mercy of donors.

Promasidor representatives, led by Divisional Sales Manager - East, Halliday Chimezie supported by the company's Business Development Manager, Segun Koleosho, visited and made the donations to the victims at a camp in Asaba Delta State.

They gave reasons behind the company's action as a way of giving back to the society where it operates and as part of its corporate social responsibilities.

Koleosho said the company had received letters from prominent Nigerians urging it to assist the displaced people and the company responded immediately because it is a service to humanity.

The Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. (Dr) Tony Nwaka who welcomed the team to the camp and formally received the products on behalf of the victims in their presence expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to Promasidor for its wonderful humanitarian gesture. He also called on other corporate bodies to emulate the company and do the needful. “These people really need help as some escaped to the camp with only the clothes on their backs.”

During the visit, one of the victims Mrs. Helen Otobo from Oko – Amakmo area of the state who has been in the camp with her family for more than two months expressed gratitude to the company and the government but still nursing fears on the state of the house they left behind.

She said though her own house is a brick house unlike the mud houses that have been damaged completely she still fears the structure (foundation) could have been weakened and thereby become dangerous to live in.

She implored Promasidor and other corporate bodies not to limit their assistance to them while in camp but should also extend it to them when they go back to their homes, where they will have to start life over again.

Kenneth Odo on his part relived his sad experience from his destroyed mud house to his further ejection from other transit camps because they were over populated. He said his family and himself now live totally at the mercy of the donors and would want Promasidor to do more to relieve them of the effects of the disaster.

As for the camp coordinators and the Red Cross members on ground they are very proud that Promasidor had joined them in the noble but also worthy cause in the service of humanity.

Besides Delta State, the Promasidor team also donated relief materials to victims of the flood in Ohita community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. The victims had just returned from relief camps to their homes which were submerged by the flood waters.

Promasidor representatives also visited members of Ohita community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. The community had just returned from relief camps to their homes after they had been submerged by the flood waters. The products were donated directly to the returnees in their leader's palace.

Though they all said they needed a whole lot of things for a better living but greatly appreciated Promasidor the only corporate body who has visited them since they returned home. “ We are not actually expecting any form of help after we had left camps and have since accepted our fate” said the President General of the community Chief Benson S. Nwadukwe “so we are very grateful to your company and hereby donate a bottle of Gin (drink) to appreciate you in our own cultural way,” he added.
