Action Congress (AC) in Ondo State, yesterday asked Governor Olusegun Mimiko to recover the N117 billion allegedly misappropriated" during the tenure of the immediate past administration in the state.

A communiqu signed by AC Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Agbede, at the end of the partys state executive council meeting in Akure, also urged Mimiko to ensure that all beneficiaries of the contracts bazaar face the full wrath of the law.

It also implored government to expedite action on investigations into the Owena multi-purpose dam, OPL 241 and other financial transactions of the last administration.

While commending Mimiko on his efforts at recovering all the funds, AC expressed its displeasure over his failure to disclose the amount in the state's kitty before he took over, adding that a disclosure could have facilitated a comprehensive assessment of the current financial status of the state.

The party also threw its weight behind Mimiko, over his plans to re-prioritise and review" all on-going capital projects in the state. In another development, an NGO, Nigerians United for Democracy (NUD), has called for the arrest and prosecution of those behind the N117 billion liabilities.

In a statement, the group asked EFCC and ICPC to effect the arrest of those involved in the alleged financial scam within 14 days.It also asked Mimiko to beam his searchlights on the 18 local government accounts, Ondo Universal Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and OSOPADEC and called on major players in the past administration to come out with useful information to defend their roles in the alleged scam.
