Your Excellency,
As directed we held the first flood Disaster Coordination Committee meeting today. Thereafter, we ( HCF Okoye, SA.Pol Okafor and I) visited the Awba Ofemili area, the tow, being Ugbu Agu.

The flooding is quite high and the road, already in poor state, breached in three areas. We could therefore only get to the first stop. There, we met with the PG, local leaders and the community's regent and some IDPs.

The people were grateful that ANSG sent a senior delegation and they also applauded the proactive work of the incumbent TC. Quite a number of the local have come up hinterland. (see photos)' but more remain in the remote but unsubmerged places. The difficulty for most is Lack of funds for paying their passage out. The Regent is of the view that those who stayed back are not at risk, but that having lost most their produce, would need food. He suggested cooking daily the camp site, and allowing the locals to come out and eat at the camp and return home. The only catch is that one or two boats would be hired to ferry them across, without charges.

We briefed them about the decision to set up and use the Local Emergency Coordinating Committees across board to run camps

If the present camp site is formalized, it will become the 16th camp. SEMA will need to ship out relief materials etc to them ASAP.

Submitted, please.
