OKOROCHA REWARDS PARALYMPIAN WITH LAND, CAR

Paralympics gold medallist, Lovelyn Obiji, has been awarded with a piece of land, and a brand new car by the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

The pronouncement was made at the Government House, Owerri, when two Imo athletes that participated in the just concluded London Paralympics Games were hosted to a reception.

The coach of the gold medallist, Mr Luke Onwumeribe was also promised a piece of land as a form of gesture from the governor.

A statement issued by the Press Secretary to the governor, Ohale Cletus, said the state was endowed with talents and stars in sporting activities, especially in football, so as to bring more medals to the country in future event.

The statement advised the federal government not to apply Federal Character in sports, but to consider those with outstanding talents and ability.

Obiji appreciated the governor for honour given to them, assuring more laurels for the state in future sporting events, both within and outside the country.
