2009 SSCE RESULT ERROR: AN APPEAL TO NATIONAL EXAMINATION COUNCIL

By Jones Joy

Sir:

My name is Jones Joy and I sat for the 2009 June/July National Examination Council's Senior Secondary Certificate Examination with registration number 91960125EB at Living Spring Comprehensive College, Ikotun, Lagos. Unfortunately, when the result came out my result had the name of another candidate. Although my number was on the result, the name on it was not mine. It carried the name Ojeifor Osaimudiam whose registration number was 91960126DI. While Ojeifor, a male candidate, sat for science subjects, I, a female candidate, sat for commercial subjects, so I remain baffled as to why the mistake was made in the first place. Ojeifor was given two results, I was given none.

What is terribly paining is that since that 2009, I have been trying my best to have NECO correct this mistake that has cost me university admission for the last three years. I have been to various NECO offices including their National Headquarters in Minna, which I have to visit twice. I was there in June, 2011 and I was asked to pay #3,500 for the correction of this mistake of NECO. I paid this money and submitted all necessary documents but I'm still waiting for the correction. I have spent thousands of naira, risked my life and undergone psychological distress over the issue.

I am therefore using this medium to appeal to the examination body to release my result immediately with my own name on it. This year, I have applied again to higher institutions for admission and I have passed my Unified Tertiary Admissions Examination. It will be unfair if I am denied admission because I cannot tender my result.

Thank you!
Jones Joy, Olorunsogo Area, Ilorin.
