Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Second Deputy Speaker Saran Sereme of Burkina Faso advised parents and guardians to instil leadership and democratic values in their children.

A statement by Ekweremadu's media aide, Uche Anichukwu, said Sereme described Matthias Ekweremadu as a true patriarch and source of blessing to the people of the sub-region and that he would be remembered as a forthright leader.
