Reject N11b Additional Budgetary Allocation, ACN Tells Amaechi

By RiversACN

The Rivers State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, says the only way Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi can convince the shortchanged Rivers people that the additional N11b to the proposed N427b is not a conspiracy between him and the lawmakers is to reject the additional amount.

A press statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Jerry Needam said the action of the lawmakers is unprecedented, self-serving and criminal.

The statement further noted that what the lawmakers' action portends is that they are better visionaries and valuers of the projects and programmes that informed the initial budget proposal than the initiator (Gov Amaechi) himself.

More worrisome, the visibly angry ACN spokesman, Jerry Needam said, is tying the additional money to no specific project which means they have an ulterior motive in doing what they did.

Jerry Needam drew attention to the refusal of the committee of whole of the House to increase the allocations of some ministries and departments earlier as demanded by the committee chairmen only to approve an additional N11b at the ratification stage for unspecified projects.

“This is despicable, unheard of and unacceptable. We insist that Governor Amaechi should live true to his transparency and accountability claim by rejecting and dissociating himself from this monumental fraud and swindle”, the ACN declared.
