Last week news filtered the air that US-based Senegal-born singer Akon Signed 3 Nigerian artistes;2face,P-Square and Wizkid as representatives of his Konvict Music record label in Africa. The dark complexioned US singer was said to have announced this at a press conference to officially unveil a new Energy Drink Citron which held at Jay Jay Okocha's lounge,Club 10.

Since the news broke, the trio have been the subject of discussion on all social utility sites as millions of their fans congratulated them on this feat.
But is it true they have been signed on?

We put a call across to the artistes to confirm the genuity of the deal. While the management of 2face and Wizkid denied the story,P-Square said they have truly signed a deal with Akon.

According to Banky W,one of the owners of E.M.E Records:” Yes we are into talks with Akon based on a synergy between Konvict Music and E.M.E Records.

I can't speak for other artistes ooo,but we have not signed any deal yet with Akon.Wizkid's album has done so well in Nigeria and we are thinking of releasing the international edition of the album Superstar. To achieve this,Wizkid would have to feature Akon in the international edition and through Konvict Record,we can break into the U.S market. Also for Akon to make a statement in Nigeria the synergy is just proper for him to gain grounds here”

Efe Omoregie the Manager of 2face when asked about the deal said:” It will not be a bad idea to work with Akon but the fact remains that there is no deal between Akon and 2face.

We have not signed any deal with Akon”

Lastly P-Square manager Jude Okoye said they have signed a deal with Akon:” Ha ha ! no be big deal now! Everybody is talking about it and we have been receiving a lot of calls but we don't see it as a big deal.Yes we have signed a deal with Akon and didn't intend talking about it now until he blew it at the event. As for other artistes involved,I can't speak for them”
