Trader becomes millionaire in Airtel SIM Registration Promo

Lagos, Friday December 16, 2011: A female trader, Oladoyin Tolulope Ogunleye and an operator of a call centre, Chukuma Augustine hve joined the growing list of millionaires to emerge from Airtel SIM Card Registration Promotion.

Both are now a millionaire after winning one million each in the promo.

These winners have been joined on the winning dais by 171 other happy winners of N100, 000. The winners are drawn from the six geo-zones including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

The 36 years old Oladoyin was presented with one million naira cash prize during the week in Lagos while similar other ceremonies were held in several Airtel locations throughout the country. The prize presentation event in Lagos was witnessed by the national consumers rights advocacy body, the Consumer Protection Council and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC).

Speaking after receiving her cheque from the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Airtel Nigeria, Deepak Srivastava, a gleeful Oladoyin said the news of her winning came as a shock, and thanked the operator for being true to its promise to millions of Nigerians.

“I am still short of words. I didn't believe it when they called me to say I had won N1, 000,000 (one million naira). I am fully convinced now and can no longer doubt because it is true. I urge those who are yet to believe that this is promo is real to do so, particularly those who have been told that they have won but are afraid to come forward to collect their winning because of fear of been duped by criminal minded individuals. Today, I am happy I overcame my fear and came forward to collect the money I won'.” she said.

In his own remarks, Ilorin-based 34 years old Chukuma Augustine thanked the telecoms operator for the winning which he described as an act of God. He also called on Nigerians to avail themselves the opportunities of similar offerings in the future.

The Airtel SIM Card registration promotion which ran between September 15 and 28, 2011 was aimed at encouraging all unregistered old and new customers on the network to comply with the September 28 registration deadline given for the registration of all Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards by industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony at the company's Headquarters, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Airtel Nigeria, Deepak Srivastava stated that the promo was in recognition of customer loyalty to the network, while assuring on the company's commitment to customers' satisfaction.

Deepak said. “This is a way of saying 'thank you' to our customers for reposing their faith in Airtel. We will continuously bring exciting great products to us. We also provided incentive for people to comply with the law as enunciated by the industry regulator, the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), mandating all telecom subscribers nationwide to register their Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs).”

Other winners of the promo (100,000 cash prizes) include Sodiq Kareem, Corporal Olaogun Moses, Pastor Adedayo Ayorinde, Taiwo Segun, Odede Saidat, Chibuzor Francis, Adeoti Funsho, Akoli Augustine, Alli Gbogbolomo, Dayo Busirat, Adesanya Olawunmi and Sabo Hananiya.
