Mimiko Wins Tribune Titles Governor Of The Year Award
Ondo state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has been nominated Governor of the year by the Management and editorial board of African Newspapers of Nigeria plc, publishers of the Tribune titles.
The governor, according to the Managing Director of the Titles, Rev. Sam Adesua, was considered worthy of the award because of his high level performance, charismatic leadership style and simple approach to public outing.
The nomination is coming at the heels of the same honour by the apex body of Journalists in the country, the Nigerian Union of Journalists and Ben TV, United Kingdom, thus bringing to three such awards for Mimiko within the last three weeks.
Rev. Sam Adesua, in a letter, said the decision for the honour resulted from an assessment of series of stringent criteria, including the most impactful policies and programmes, public probity and delivery of democracy dividend, all of which the publishers mentioned are evident in administrative approach of governor Mimiko.
“Your emergence resulted from an assessment of series of stringent criteria, including the most impactful policies and programmes, public probity and delivery of democracy dividends.
“These criteria were evident in your administrative approach in Ondo-the Sunshine State, reflected in the pro-poor health schemes like the Abiye Programme, construction of Mega schools, Ultral modern markets and massive road rehabilitation cum construction among others.”
The MD affirmed that the intimidating performance profile of the governor made the Tribune titles deemed it appropriate to recognise his charismatic leadership style and simple disposition to public outing adding that a formal presentation ceremony is being planned for January 2012.
Recall that the Ondo state governor has in the last few months won series of awards based on his ability to live up his campaign promises.
Organisers of all the awards the governor has won in recent time have been unanimous in hinging their reason for celebrating the governor on his unequalled performance as a governor in the nation Nigeria.
The awards have also come as a result of the many initiatives brought to governance by the governor whose about three years in office as the governor of Ondo state has brought so much transformation and accolade on the state which currently boasts of having the best medical facilities for mothers and children, as well as the best facilities for primary school children in the entire country.
